As part of an event organized by the BARU Entrepreneurship Club, a presentation was given to our university's undergraduate students on the impact of artificial intelligence on professions, changing ways of doing business, and future competencies. In the program, where our faculty member from the Faculty of Science, Department of Information and Business Administration, Dr. Furkan AYDIN, was the speaker, it was emphasized that artificial intelligence is not just a technical tool;it is a significant transformative element that reshapes the processes of accessing information, interpreting information, and turning it into value.
The presentation, starting from the question "Will artificial intelligence take our jobs?", stated that the real issue is not the complete disappearance of professions, but rather the change in how professions are performed. It was explained that artificial intelligence offers strong support, especially in conceptual and procedural tasks;however, human-centered skills such as strategic thinking, asking the right questions, establishing context, and decision-making retain their importance.
The event also highlighted how tools like Excel, SPSS, R, Python, Power BI, and Tableau have transformed some business processes in the past;Today, examples of a similar transformation occurring on a larger scale with artificial intelligence were shared. In this context, it was stated that students' ability to not only possess information but also to filter, interpret, and properly direct that information, and to evaluate its outcomes, will generate higher added value in the future.
At the end of the presentation, it was emphasized that when used correctly, artificial intelligence creates a powerful leverage effect rather than a threat;individuals who adapt to change, think interdisciplinarily, develop critical approaches, and use technology strategically will have a stronger position in the world of the future. The program, coordinated by the BARU Entrepreneurship Club, was completed with the intense interest and contributions of the students.
